Q: Does this unit have to be plugged into a power source to function or does it also use a battery that can be recharged?

A: Hello! Thank you for your interest in the RVHW32 wireless tow light for the RV application.

We have found in our years of experience working with the RV application that eliminating the battery from inside of the unit is an effective way to offer a product that is hassle free and will be able to function much longer than an internal battery would allow. Certainly, our rechargeable wireless lights can last up to 10 hours on a full charge. However, it can become a hassle if one forgets to charge it and it holds them back from progressing on their trip. Additionally, that amount of runtime will gradually decrease before the battery needs to be replaced (about every 1-2 years). Therefore, we developed this system that simply plugs into the vehicle in tow’s 12V DC receptacle or, if a receptacle is unavailable in the vehicle itself, a battery pack/jump start pack with a DC receptacle that are widely available. This will ensure the unit has plenty of runtime and will never need to be serviced, barring any kind of damage or warranty issues, and also still eliminate the need to have a vehicle wired for towing behind an RV.

A: Thank you for your inquiry. This particular product does require a 12V power source to operate. Most people plug it into their cigarette lighter on their tow vehicle. We do offer a variety of products that do have a rechargeable battery, such as the TM22G, TM21, TM2M or CA32. These products run for approx 10+ hrs, and you look at replacing the battery every 1-2 years. If you are using this for a tow vehicle behind an RV, you will probably need the 7RV style transmitter. Q: I disconnect battery from Jeep when towing. With this towing RV package do I need battery power on Jeep?

A: With the standard RV light, 12V is required from the cigarette lighter or 12V port. There is a battery option for this light that costs an additional $55. Please give us a call at 1-800-680-4455 and we will be happy to place the order for you.

Q: is the angle of this product adjustable with an adapter? I'm towing a Fiat 500 with soft cloth roof and no trunk lid to get the proper angle to face rearward.

We have an adjustable suction cup kit that will allow for placement on hard surfaces other than metal.

Q: Rather than the suction cups, do you have adhesive backed round metal plates than can be affixed to the tow vehicle?
